Happy Anniversary To Me

by PotPieGirl on February 18, 2010 · 65 comments

…And a Happy Birthday, Too!

What a busy week or so it’s been! I don’t like it being this long between posts, but time flies by before I even know what’s happened! I figured I’d take a break and let you know (and see) what I’ve been up to. Besides, if your email inbox is anything like mine lately, you’re over-whelmed with the “latest and greatest” launches out there. I think we can ALL take a break from business and product launches and allllllllll that stuff we do day in and day out today. So, if you don’t mind, let’s take a little break from the norm and I’ll ramble about some of the corny things that have been happening around here. I’ve got pictures and a video, too =)

I Got Old(er)

Yes, as of February 13th, I officially became one year older. As a special gift, we received about 4 inches of snow the day before my birthday. It was absolutely gorgeous! That night, my hubby, my daughter and I played outside in the snow. I’m tellin’ ya, if you want to feel young again, drop yourself in the snow and make a snow angel while big puffy snowflakes fall on your face.snow-angel

It was awesome!

Yes, that’s me making my snow angel =)

Thankfully, my daughter grabbed my hood and pulled it up just as I was about to fall backwards into the snow (not sure exactly when SHE started mothering ME, but I like it).

Unfortunately, my already snazzy hair-do I acquired from the snowball fight all went me-hollis-snow-2010into my face when my hood was pulled up so I have this lovely picture of me and my daughter for all future generations to see.

Oh well, the moment was perfect….

After our snowball fight and snow angels, we just HAD to let our cats out to play in the snow. OK, perhaps “let them” is not the correct terminology… we PUT them out in the snow for our own entertainment and made a quick video of it. (just a note: no animals were hurt during this production. Both cats were quickly back in the house and snuggled up by the fireplace).

For my birthday, my sweet daughter-in-law made a special dress for my granddaughter, Hanna, to wear. The front of the dress hanna-birthday-dresssays, “Happy Birthday GiGi” on it. “GiGi” is my nickname and I’m guessing what Hanna will call me. Here is a picture of Hanna wearing the birthday dress (both the dress and the bow were hand-made by her Mommy).

Hanna will be 3 months old soon, and everyday she changes. I’m tellin’ ya, if I had known how wonderful being a (young…ha) grandmother would be, I woulda had the grandbaby first! She is so precious!

My 3-Year Anniversary

Today, February 18th, marks my three year anniversary for working online. Talk about time flying! Wowzers! Seems like just yesterday that my hubby came home and found me staring at a blank computer screen and asked, “Hey baby, whatcha doin’?

Me: “Making a website – I’m gonna make money online!”

Hubby: “Uhhhh…do you know how??”

Me: “Nope, I have no clue…..but I know I can do it.”

The rest is history – and so is that first website I made since I accidentally erased it while trying to learn FTP….lol!

Those first 2 years or so, I worked my tail off online. We’re talking 12…14…..or more hour days. I wanted this more than anything and was determined…. FIERCELY determined to learn and achieve all I could to make it happen for myself.

I know there are so many of you out there that are going thru exactly what I was going thru just a short time ago.

Hang in there! Please don’t give up!

me-hanna-my-birthdayDo this for YOU.

I wish I could articulate what a difference this has made in my life. Yes, money is cool and all…..but it’s not that. There is something liberating and empowering about wanting something so badly and doing more than you ever thought possible to make it happen. It all happens because of YOU, because of YOUR effort and YOUR learning and YOUR actions.

I know it’s hard to have faith in all this. There is so much uncertainty – no guarantees. No one can promise how much you will make, or how long it will take you to make it.

It’s all up to YOU.

I have no doubt that every single person reading this right now has ALL it takes to make this work.

You just have to want it badly enough… and then GO GET IT.

Think back on things you’ve worked really hard to achieve in the past. Reflect on the dedication and focus you mustered up to get them. You have all it takes =)

Perhaps you are someone who really can’t think of something you’ve ever poured your heart and soul into. That’s ok – but TODAY is the day to start. Do it for YOU.

Happy Anniversary. I have watched you over the last 3 years and I am truly amazed. You are an inspiration to me and one day pray I can be in the place you are. Your One Week Marketing Curriculum is terrific. You are a gift to many. Many blessings to you and your family.

Joan Adams February 18, 2010 at 8:36 pm

Hanna is beautiful and you look like you love grandparenting ! What a super experience! I treasure every day with the grands for sure! No matter how prepared you think you are, the love blast is awesome!

Congratulations on all 3 — your beautiful granddaughter, your birthday and 3 years internet marketing!

Well done and congrats!

I’ve been online more than 3 without creating the income I want but hey, that’s about to change…

I’ve decided that this is my break through year and I’ve now got my version of One Week Marketing and I’m following it like crazy!!

Happy Anniversary!! I found about you from Travis(bum marketing). I have followed you every since.

Keep up the good work, you have many more years of great work ahead of you.

Ian February 18, 2010 at 8:47 pm

LOL loved the cat drop, that second cat knew what was up. Happy birthday Jen!

Tiffany February 18, 2010 at 8:47 pm

Happy belated birthday! What you have been able to accomplish in the past 3 years from staring at a blank screen to awesome work you have done online is really inspiration. It is truly amazing what we can do when we put our mind to something!

PotPieGirl February 18, 2010 at 8:49 pm

Thank you all – VERY much!

Ian – the black cat was so hard to see in that night-time video, but she was stuck to my hubby like velcro….. He couldn’t pull her off. It was so funny!

Kelly @ Raw Food 4 Life February 18, 2010 at 8:52 pm

Congrats on the birthday and the anniversary. You’re really an inspiration, especially as I sit here wondering how I’m going to pay the water and electric bill this month. I’ve only been doing this for about 6 months – but I am making a little extra money. Now I’ve just got to cultivate it and get it growing. Thanks!

Julie February 18, 2010 at 8:52 pm

Happy Anniversary and Birthday!

First – your cats…HYSTERICAL! I about fell off my chair when Kissy wouldn’t let go of your hubby. Haha!

Secondly – your grandbaby is ADORABLE!!! And…her momma is one talented woman. What a CUTE outfit!

I’ve been online since August of last year. I work as much as I can (2-3 hours a day) and I’m slowly making progress. You have been such an inspiration to me and I appreciate you and everything you do for us.

You inspire me every day!

Annette February 18, 2010 at 8:56 pm

Happy Anniversary and Birthday!

You are my favorite rolemodel and you have thought us a lot about marketing techniques.

Thank you!

Fred Raley February 18, 2010 at 8:59 pm

Way to go there girl. Multiple 29 y/o birthdays is great when you can pull it off.

I’m envious though. I have 5 kids from 30 to 13 and no grandkids yet. What’s the secret!

Just got on your list a few months ago and must say I love your style. I’m really tired of the hype and new biz launches!

Mark February 18, 2010 at 9:09 pm

Congratulations on all the wonderful things that you have in your life now. I have followed you for about a year and have been taking action ever since. Thank you for all the information and pointing me in the right direction. I am determined to succeed.

PotPieGirl February 18, 2010 at 9:10 pm

Actually, Fred…. I’m not thinking people are buying the “29″ thing anymore =(

Maybe I should just knock off 10 years and say I’m 33 again. Wonder if I could pull that off? lol!

You need to tell your older kids to get you some grandkids! They owe you!

Thank you everyone!!!

Stacy @ Wealth For Everyone February 18, 2010 at 9:16 pm

It is amazing what truly wanting something and putting your mind to make it happen can accomplish! I’ve been “into” IM for just about two years now and hadn’t been very consistent until pretty recently.

Now I feel I have the right path to take (which your One Week Marketing plan has been an integral part). I just set up some sites this month and was (pleasantly) stunned when I saw I’ve already made money from Adsense (my first time incorporating Adsense).

Even though it’s not even enough money to pay a single bill yet (well, no techincally I could pay my monthly Netflix bill on that) I am just thrilled that I have my own PROOF that it WORKS. People are actually finding MY sites and going to them and looking around and clicking on stuff. (Even had some sales from Amazon too! – My first from Amazon even though I’ve been signed up as an associate for well over a year!)

So thanks for being an inspiration and for what I have to look forward to. I am eagerly awaiting the time when all my IM efforts have snowballed (ha! I’m in GA too and I actually hated we got snow – my car got stuck in my own driveway) and I’m fully able to live off my IM income.

Debora Humphries February 18, 2010 at 9:27 pm

Happy Anniversary and Birthday Jennifer. I always get something out of reading your blog posts, like major “Inspiration.” I really love your OWM course as well as the tips and advice you give in the WA Forum.

Thanks so much for sharing the snow pics. Wish I would have taken your advice and played in the snow last week. It has been 10 years since the last good snow here in N. Louisiana.

Have a blessed day. :)

Maria (WriterGig) February 18, 2010 at 9:43 pm

Congratulations on your third anniversary! It’s amazing what you’ve accomplished in so little time. (Only three years, but I am sure many hours!)

I have almost reached my goal of a full-time income from online residual sources. I’ve been working at this for just under 2.5 years and hope to reach my goal by the end of 2010.

With four little ones at home, I’ve only been able to work very part time, but it’s amazing what you can accomplish in a few hours a day with enough determination.

Thanks for your ebook, and best of luck in all your endeavors!

Bryan February 18, 2010 at 9:55 pm

Congratulations Jennifer,
Thanks for all the good info. Helped me a lot.
Keep on Trucking Girl.

Hope that you get all you wish for and that the next year is all that it can be and more.

Happy Birthday Pot Pie Girl!

Thanks so much for your inspiration! And Hanna is beautiful!

Eric Avant February 19, 2010 at 12:00 am

Hey PPG,

First of all, I want to wish you a very Happy Anniversary and an equally Happy Birthday! Wow, I just can’t get over a “29″ year old grandmother. But I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised, after all, I just celebrated my 25th anniversary of my 25 birthday! So, that’s cool! (Age is just a number, because how old would you be if you didn’t know how old you were? – Ponderful, huh?)

Anyway, to the meat of the matter!

I want to hank you for being who you are and doing what you did. I became a part of your “team” about a mnth ago when I was referred to your OneWeekMarketing site by Jonathan G at the Traffic Cafe. February, marks my official 2 month anniversary of starting my IM business. I have to admit that the most hectic part has been in sorting through what seems to be 100s of people telling me to “come join my team”. I’m not going to bore you with the particulars but I will just say as of this point I am only officially claiming two people – Chris Farrell (who got this green boy going) and you (who got my first squidoo lenses up) As silly as it sounds, I don’t really care (now) if they convert or not, I’m just fascinated that I got them up. I also got my first 5 articles published by ezine ever (I’m pumped), couldn’t have done it without you, and like Nick T, I don’t know how I will ever repay you. If you ever want to look at them my lensmaster name is ForgetMe-Not. I was going to joined them to your group but I still don’t understand how exactly to do it, however, I just joined your Squidoo program (for $6.97) and so I’m sure I’ll learn soon.

Soory this coment is so long just one more thing to tell you.

I’m legally blind and have been for years, still have partial sight but there’s a chance (progressive eye disease) that I will lose it all – however, I plan on setting up enugh niche sites between now and the inevitable to make enough money that I can still do my business, I’ll just have to hire an assitant to do the typing.

Anyway, thanks again, for being such a wonderful example and (don’t take this wrong) not being perfect like so many other IM seem to be because it was that part which came through all of your writing so well, that made me pick you, and thank God I did!

My moniker is Blind Biz Guy and I used it before I knew you but when I saw PotPIeWorld I went and grabbed BLInBIZWorld to go along with my BlindBizGuy stuff. I’m looking forward toa great futre.

Best now and always to you and yours – hope to see you on the net!

I have to say I enjoyed your video with the cats. We in Memphis don’t get much snow either and my dog Wendy didn’t know what to make of it but she did
go find a spot without snow on it to do her stuff.
I enjoy your emails too…

Congrats Jennifer!

It’s so nice to read your success story. It has been inspiring for me, and now that I am starting to see some success as well I see even more parallels…

I have been pulling 14 hours days with regularity…. and I am absolutely driven to succeed….

I read your story and it lets me know that I am on the right track…. and the dollars are starting to prove it, as well!

Thanks again,

Veronica February 19, 2010 at 1:28 am

Congratulations on the 3 year milestone and your 29th birthday. You’ve sure come a long way in a relatively short time. Thanks for sharing everything with us.

I just love building snow angels like that. It’s just so cold but it’s lots of fun :) So much fun, but I got sick that time.

Happy Birthday, PotPieGirl!
Just wanted to wish you joy in all you do. And to let you know how much I enjoy your work and appreciate all that you share with us. You deserve the best!

Karen February 19, 2010 at 7:43 am

Congratulations Jennifer and a belated Happy Birthday. It is amazing that you have achieved so much in 3 years!
I started 6 months ago determined to find out how to break into using the internet. I started asking around for someone to make me a website – then thought why not learn how to do it.

Well after a few frustrating errors I found your OWM course.
4 Squidoo lenses later (indexed the same day) I got a sale in a week! Thanks to you, your course and your website I was off and running.
I now have a few wordpress sites up (you do not need a web designer after all) and things are getting better each month.

Without OWM I think I would still be jumping from one site to another trying to understand what I was doing. So, thank you again!

Happy Anniversary Pot Pie Girl. Great blog with lots of interesting content.

Glyn February 19, 2010 at 2:58 pm

Thanks for your efforts…. I have enjoyed your down to earth approach as I begin to explore the opportunities available and untangle the web (pun intended) of internet marketing.

We all saw the rather eloborate launch of Video Boss this past week…. seemed a bit over-the-top for what a Internet Marketer would actually need, though I am sure its all great content. Do you have tips on the use of Video?

Mary Ann February 19, 2010 at 4:39 pm

Congrats to you and happy, happy! You are such an inspiration. I am starting an article on Squidoo. I’m moving slower than I want (got a new puppy) but you have just kicked me into a higher gear. Thanks for being you!

Dorene February 19, 2010 at 4:55 pm

Congrats on your anniversary and a late Happy Birthday! I totally agree that we should be allowed to have the grand kids first! They are sooooo much fun! I have five and two “honorary” ones from 7 weeks to 6 years! Three of them live right here with me. It’s great! I am currently unemployed and I am praying that I will be able to follow in your footsteps and learn to earn an income from home! I purchased and read through the OWM Plan. It looks great. Getting started today I hope! I am determined to do this this time. I have been dreaming of it for years! The job market for me right now is not good to say the least so I am hoping that this time it is for real! I truly appreciate the honest straight forward approach you have and that it is actual work towards a goal as opposed to the pie in the sky scams I have wasted a fortune and a bunch of time looking at!
We made snowmen yesterday and I was so happy doing something so simple and thinking “I will be able to do this and a lot more things like this for the rest of my life”! Very exciting prospect! Thank you, and off I go to get started! Wish me luck!

Dawn February 19, 2010 at 5:14 pm

Hey Jennifer,

Congrats on your anniversary and Happy Birthday.

I have to say you have inspired me. I know you get this a lot but every time I feel overwhelmed I read one of your posts and I get pumped again.

I started a transcription business 3 years ago and cultivated it into success. Now I want a new challenge and a little more financial freedom from my hard work. I decided to take on the marketing challenge….. and boy is it challenging:)

Your upbeat and fun attitude and posts keep me motivated and on track. Thanks so much for your time.

BTW I am in Michigan so I get to enjoy that snow every year:)

Many blessings to you and your family.

Dino February 19, 2010 at 7:10 pm

Congratulations, Jennifer. Was sitting on the fence regarding a new program and decided to purchase it because of your endorsement – that’s credibility! Thanks for being one of the good guys…er…gals.

Say, you made a video once about using Ebay to search for “what is selling” as a good way to find niches. Can’t find it anywhere. I wanted to review it again. Can someone post the link for me, please?

Tante grazie!

Genevieve February 19, 2010 at 7:29 pm

Hello PPG,

Although I may say that you are inspiring, I am actually more disappointed that you haven’t answered any of my emails and messages. I have messaged you twice on Wealthy Affiliate, and have emailed you a few times too. Quite frankly, I am very frustrated at a person who claims to help, but who ultimately never answers a single message. “Just shoot me a message,” you say, “and I’ll help.” What you actually mean is, “Just buy my product, and I’ll never respond.” Thank you anyway for being an inspiration, even if you never reply.
All the best to you and yours

Elizabeth February 19, 2010 at 8:36 pm

Hi Jennifer,

Happy birthday and anniversary. And enjoy Hanna. She is precious.

PotPieGirl February 19, 2010 at 11:00 pm

Wow, y’all – THANK YOU!

We went out with friends last night then we had some appointments today. I just sat down to work and see this post has blown up with all your wonderful comments.

Seriously, THANK YOU! I am so flattered and humbled!

Let’s see if I can answer some questions….

@ RonyG – I can promise you that I would NEVER hurt my cats or ANY animal. Not my style and I have no respect for anyone who does that. My apologies if my video offended you. Thank you for letting me know.

@ Nawar & @ Genevieve -

My email inbox is crazy. No, it’s BEYOND crazy (as is my private message inbox at Wealthy Affiliate). I do the best I can, but even at full speed, I am over-whelmed and fighting a losing battle…lol.

Please do this for me – go to my help desk at:

AskPotPieGirl.com and open a ticket. I have fantastic help there and it is absolutely the best way to get support or ask questions.

I know email is easier for many, but that help desk is the only thing that helps me retain what sanity I have left =)

Thank you!

@ Eric Avant – Wow, what a great comment post! YOU are an inspiration!

@Jerry – oh yeah! Roll Tide, baby!!!!

@ Glyn – I am the worlds worst with video. If it wasn’t for Jing, I’d be in a world of trouble! I’m hoping to learn more about it soon, tho – and if I find any cool tips, I’ll be sure to share them.

@ Dino – At this moment, I can’t recall where I posted that video. I’ll either find it or post a new one because that is a very useful “trick” to find profitable niches.

Again, thank you everyone! Y’all are so inspirational!

Congratulations on the birthday and anniversary; I have to say that you still look 29 (not trying to kiss any butt).

I think you and I started at Squidoo right around the same time; we both took different paths and I had a different business that I was working on at the time.

Thank you for all that you do and for being yourself. I somehow land on some lists where I receive 3 emails a day regarding the next latest and greatest thing to hit the internet. That gets old after a while.

I really loved the cat videos. As a Wisconsin resident I never would think about throwing any of my 3 cats out in the snow. Kudos for the bravery your family showed :)

Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary!
If people only knew how good it is to earn money online! But I’m most said about so many people who don’t try because “it would never work” (or at least for them). The biggest obstacle is actually getting to try. The next obstacle is to overcome the “my results are so poor”. After that, it’s all nice and shiny :)

Anna February 24, 2010 at 3:55 am

Hi Jenny,

I just want to say thanks – for this, for your products, for your blog, just for being you! Sorry to be corny, but I just want to re-iterate how grateful I am for you and other ‘honest’ internet marketing teachers out there. I LOVE your info but most especially the personality that shines thru on your pages. Thanks again, Happy Belated Birthday and I hope your life is FILLED to the BRIM of fantastic experiences, love and laughter..
All the best. :)
