Can’t ePN and Squidoo Get Along?

Since the announcement of the change to eBay affiliate payout structure this past August 19th, there has been a LOT of craziness surrounding the eBay Partner Network (eBay’s in-house affiliate program). One of the main changes was the new guideline that retracted affiliates option to put their eBay affiliate links on web pages they do not own. In other words, sites like HubPages and Squidoo that were once famous for being a strong authority sites to expose your links are now a “no go”. It seemed as if eBay was going to work something out with Squidoo tho since Squidoo is such a strong affiliate for eBay. However, this has not happened…leaving many Squidoo lensmasters out to dry.

The Squidoo eBay Earnings Module

When the eBay Partner Network made it so we could no longer use our own eBay affiliate links on a Squidoo lens, we lensmasters breathed a sigh of relief to find that at least we could still use Squidoo’s eBay modules. These eBay modules allow us to promote eBay items as an affiliate under Squidoo’s eBay affiliate account. When our lens earned something via eBay’s affiliate program, those earnings would be tagged to our lens and then Squidoo generously split those commissions with us.

Since eBay has gone to this new Quality Click Pricing payout structure that pays affiliate based on “quality clicks” as opposed to commission per sale or per sign up, it seems there is some break down in communication from eBay to Squidoo as to how the new payout structure will be tracked and paid to Squidoo, so Squidoo could then in turn pay the respective lensmaster.

In short – all those eBay modules on Squidoo are earning nothing for anyone but for eBay.

From what I understand, Squidoo is not being paid because no one from eBay will take the time to work out an agreement and a process for tracking the clicks from each lens that hosts eBay earning modules.

Considering eBay announced this new Quality Click Pricing structure on August 19th, and it’s now the beginning of November, am I crazy to think that eBay could care less about Squidoo and the traffic they bring to the eBay site?

If it was me, and I had an affiliate with the earnings power of Squidoo, I do believe I’d be paying a bit more attention to the situation and trying to come to some sort of plan for the future – even if it’s just to say, “Sorry, Squidoo, we can’t do it – we don’t know how to track these earnings for you”.

But THEN what would happen? Yup, lensmasters (like me) would be dumping those eBay modules off their lenses like crazy and switching to Amazon (who, by the way, is still more than happy to have the traffic and sales from Squidoo).

What Squidoo Has To Say About eBay

Last we lensmasters heard officially from Squidoo HQ regarding eBay earning modules was on October 8th:

With eBay’s recent announcement of their Quality Click Pricing plan come some good questions from lensmasters who love (and profit from) our eBay module, and a good dose of patience while we wait for some fixes from eBay.

The short of it is that eBay is changing the way they pay partners, even big and trusted ones like Squidoo. And as they implement some of their changes, other things break. That explains why you’re not seeing the daily eBay stats for your lenses right now, and we’re confident eBay will fix it for us very soon.

Once we know more from eBay about how their QCP plan will work for us, we’ll share it with you right away!

However, that was almost a month ago. Meanwhile, some great lensmasters who relied on their nice income from Squidoo eBay modules are now earning exactly $0.00. I have a funny feeling that Squidoo.com is missing that revenue, too!

From my perspective and from all I have read, this is NOT Squidoo’s fault. They can’t do anything about this without eBay – who apparently is not communicating with Squidoo on this matter.

Poor Gil, the lone ranger programmer from Squidoo (I still have NO clue when he sleeps – or IF he sleeps) has said in the SquidU forum:

On 10-19-2009

I promise that we’ll post an update as soon as we hear back from eBay. We’ve done everything we can to escalate the issue.

and on 10-20-2009

Yes we were aware of the quality click pricing change before it happened and attempted to make pre-emptive adjustments, but with no data or reporting tools how do you propose we do that?

I know you just WANT THIS FIXED (i do too!) but it’s not so simple. There isn’t an obvious solution other than pooling eBay revenue. Now I don’t like that option and I’m sure you probably don’t either, so that’s why we’re hoping eBay provides new tools for us soon.

Just hang in there and we’ll keep pushing together. OK?

Poor guy, he’s catching a bunch of slack about all this when there is absolutely nothing he can do without eBay’s participation.

Yes, Squidoo HQ could keep us more up-to-date on this matter, but what is there to say other than “Still No News From eBay”?

In the meantime, eBay gets the traffic, eBay gets the commissions (and saves paying for the clicks) – Squidoo gets nothing and our lensmasters get nothing.

Will Lensmasters Get “Back Pay” From eBay?

All this brings about the next logical question – When/IF eBay gets their super affiliate Squidoo all squared away and operational again, what about the lost earnings from when we were NON-operational? Will Squidoo and it’s lensmasters get paid for those clicks?

Who knows?

Its scary to think that a mega-company like eBay who has known for Lord only knows HOW long that they would be changing the payout structure to affiliates didn’t factor in and proactively prepare for their Super Affiliates like Squidoo.com. If it’s taken all this time to even begin to try and figure out how to track Squidoo’s eBay affiliate activity from that day forward, how in the world can we feel confident that eBay will ALSO figure out how to track activity that already happened?

Sad thing is, we lensmasters can SEE all the clickouts from our lenses to the eBay site. And now, with this new Quality Click Pricing, each click is worth money. It’s no longer sales-based… we are supposed to be paid by the click.

Yes, we can SEE that we are losing money…. just great, huh?

When I think of just the lensmasters that had Halloween-based lenses that promoted relevant eBay products, and all the money that the lensmasters lost during that time (but eBay still earned), it makes me sad for those folks.

And now… here comes Christmas… so now what?

Should We Dump All Our Ebay Modules?

Another good question is if should we dump all our eBay modules and replace them with Amazon earning modules? Hey, while it might not be the best solution, at least Amazon pays Squidoo. With the holiday shopping season fast approaching, I’d rather promote a company that will pay Squidoo than promote one that won’t even work with us.

But here’s the thing…..

Once upon a time, wayyyyyy back in 2007, I was an eBay affiliate thru Commission Junction. All was good. Then, in Spring 2008, eBay announced that they were going to a new in-house affiliate program (ePN) and that we’d all have to reapply AND change out ALLLLLLL our eBay affiliate links to fit the new Partner Network links.

That was NO FUN – but we did it.

Then, in August 2009, eBay announces this new Quality Click Pricing structure (that is vague at best). Along with that announcement comes the new terms which prohibit eBay affiliates from using their own affiliate link on web properties that they do not own. That meant, in a nutshell, get alllllllllllllll your eBay links OFF Squidoo, and Blogger….. and no more eBay earnings on HubPages.

So off we all go AGAIN…. changing or removing our own personal eBay affiliate links from Squidoo (or at least the ones we can remember are out there. Many lensmasters, like myself, have been working on Squidoo since 2007…and that is a LOT of lenses and eBay affiliate links out there).

Again, NO FUN – but I, like the others, did it and changed our Squidoo eBay links to reflect Squidoo’s affiliate account so we would be within the terms of service of ePN…oh, and so we would get paid.

Now I’m not some super affiliate for eBay. I send a couple thousand clicks their way each month….a couple hundred bucks in earnings…nothing to get excited about. But at Squidoo, we have lensmasters who were (operative word: WERE) making really good money via their eBay modules.

Now they are making nothing. POOF, gone. While I am a little frustrated, I can only imagine how frustrated the bigger eBay earners are…. and how it hurts to have that income source just disappear. I feel for them…. big time.

What’s The Squidoo/eBay Solution?

I have no idea what the solution is here. EBay’s new payout structure is based on “quality clicks” per campaign.

Confused? Trust me, you are NOT the only one.

October was my first month being paid out under this new structure and I think I’m slowly “getting it”. eBay wants it’s affiliates to click eBay ads that are exactly what the consumer is looking for so that they take an on-site action (ie, make a bid, buy it now, sign up for eBay, etc) right away. I managed to get my per click payout up to .31 for a few days last month – but I also had days when I made .04 per click.

As I said before, this new per click pricing structure is vague at best – but that is a story for another day. Or, just travel the eBay affiliates forum and you’ll see how confusing it is for everyone.

Regardless, I am not a programmer (and if I was, I’d break the internet, no doubt), so I don’t know the technical side of all this and how to solve it. I know what my eBay affiliate reports look like now and I wonder why each lensmaster can’t be it’s own ePN “campaign” – however I barely know my ABC’s from PHP =)

But, I am a person who knows that there are fellow Squidoo lensmasters that have worked really hard, played by all the rules, and they aren’t getting credit for clicks they have earned. There are real people out there that are not being credited for income they have earned – and that is a real problem in my book.

I’m not even worried about my own clicks. Heck, I might not even HAVE an account any more after this post goes live…. eBay might give me the axe!

I’d like to know that eBay is on top of this. That this situation is pressing for eBay and they are putting their heads together with Squidoo to work this out for the affiliates that have worked so hard for them both. They deserve it.

Above all, I’d love for poor Gil to be able to have an answer – even a SOLUTION – so we can move past this and get back to our holiday marketing for eBay.

If anyone knows anything I don’t, or I’ve mis-stated something, please let me know.

*** EDIT – INFO UPDATE ***

Thank you to TheFluffanutta for bringing an important Squidoo HQ announcement to my attention regarding the situation with eBay. Since info is always all over the place, it’s easy to miss updates, but in this particular case I am bopping myself in the head. This announcement was found in the Official SquidTeam Announcements thread – yeah, like totally where I shoulda looked in the first place. Duh, Jen!

This information comes from Megan Casey in this SquidU thread. To be sure that everyone reads it, I will copy/paste it here (hope that’s ok, Megan).

Gil already addressed this in this thread about eBay reporting, and I posted about it on the SquidBlog too. But I want to be extra clear since we’ve been hearing from lensmasters with some incorrect assumptions.

Here’s everything we know:

Beginning October 1, 2009 eBay has switched from paying out a commission based on sales to a commission based on “quality clicks” (their own system, not ours). We requested in advance of this change that eBay provide detailed reports to us, so that we can direct those quality click commissions directly to the lensmasters who generated them. We still have not gotten those reports. If eBay cannot provide this level of detail, Squidoo will distribute eBay earnings based on a pool system in much the same way we do with Adsense and Infolinks earnings.

So to put it another way:

* Yes, you will still make money from the eBay module.
* No, it’s not true that “you won’t get paid for your eBay sales.”
* But yes, it IS true that we’re not getting _any_ reporting from eBay right now, so the eBay stats on your royalty pages aren’t updating properly.
* No, we’re not sure if eBay will allow us to continue paying “directly attributable” royalties, sale by sale, directly to the lens and the person who generated them. It might be that we have to pool all eBay earnings and figure out a system to disburse royalties to participating lensmasters.
* No, this eBay reporting problem has nothing to do with the quality of Squidoo lenses or our community, and Squidoo is not being singled out by eBay. This has everything to do with eBay trying to roll out a new payment system in an unfortunately unclear fashion.

I understand that a lot of lensmasters are worried about eBay’s new payout structure, and concerned that we don’t have answers yet. We are too. But we’re pushing on this every day with them, and as soon as we know specific answers, we will share them with you.

Thanks for your forbearance.

So, the issue is a reporting communication break-down between ePN and Squidoo BUT earnings to the Squidoo site as a whole are still be recording. Only thing left to figure out is whether these earnings will be paid out via a “pool” earnings like AdSense is, or if they will be paid to the respective lensmaster.

I’ll let you know what I find out.

As for HubPages

Seems I was wrong there, too (thank you, Cat). Apparently you CAN use your personal eBay affiliate links on HubPages. I’ve been collecting info and tips for doing this and will have a follow up post up shortly.

Thanks all!

Now that we’re all migrated over to the new eBay Partner Network in-house affiliate program, we all seem to have some of the same basic questions. I’ve compiled a list of ePN questions while doing my reading and figured I’d post all the answers here in one place.

I spent the day updating my BANS niche stores so I’ve got a serious case of ‘eBay-on-the-brain”. Thankfully, updating my eBay store sites was remarkably easy. The guys over at BANS are Johnny-on-the-spot and had this EPN update ready since April 1st. When I started migrating my eBay links from CJ to EPN, I chose to start with my affiliate links on ‘only’ my Squidoo lenses to start. I have this thing about new programs and I wanted to see everything work properly before updating EVERYTHING I have out there. I have a few Build A Niche Store sites, and I am very happy with them. While the BANS software is not really for total beginners, it isn’t hard to use. Naturally, each time you use it, it gets easier and easier.

Ok, on to the eBay affiliate questions.

Common eBay Partner Network Questions and Answers

Q. When Does eBay Pay?

A. eBay Partner Network pays out on the 25th of the month following. ie, what you earned in April will be paid on May 25th.

—-

Q. How Does eBay Pay Their Affiliates?

A. EPN pays affiliates via PayPal or direct deposit.

—-

Q. What Is a CRU? What Is an ACRU?

A. A CRU is a Confirmed Registered User. If someone new to eBay clicks thru to eBay via one of your affiliate links and then registers for eBay and confirms their registration, that is a CRU. You do NOT get paid for a CRU

An ACRU is an Active Confirmed Registered User. If someone new to eBay clicks thru your link to the eBay site, registers for an eBay account, confirms that account, and then places a bid, you have generated an ACRU. eBay currently pays $25 bonus to their EPN affiliates for an ACRU. You can earn more for ACRU’s based on your volume.

ACRUs

Compensation

1 – 49

$25.00

50 – 1,999

$28.00

2,000 – 29,999

$31.00

30,000 +

$35.00

While making commissions off of auctions won is good, ACRU’s are the real ‘meat’ of the eBay affiliate program.

Also, regarding ACRU’s. A customer may click thru your link, sign up, and confirm, but NOT bid on anything right away. EPN allows for a 30 day window for these CRU’s to convert to an ACRU. This means that if someone signs up thru your link and then comes back to eBay within 30 days and bids on an auction, your CRU will convert to an ACRU…. and you get $25.

—-

Q. If someone clicks thru my eBay link, do they have to bid right away (and win) for me to make a commission?

A. No. eBay allows for a 7 day window. This means that if someone who is already a member of eBay clicks thru your link and makes a bid within 7 days (AND wins the auction), you will get paid a commission.

—-

Q. When Will Stats (Click-thrus, Sales, ACRU’s, etc) Show on MY EPN Dashboard?

A. eBay reports click-thrus and impressions within 4 hours of their occurance. ACRU’s will be posted by midnight of the following day. eBay is on PDT time (California), so keep that in mind.

—-

Q. Is It Possible To Have More Clicks of My eBay Affiliate Links Than I Have Impressions?

A. This is a weird one, I know. If my eBay links only show (impressions) 10 times, how did I have 50 clicks? Here’s the thing – RSS feeds do not generate impressions. In my case, MOST of my eBay affiliate links are RSS feeds, therefor, I have way fewer impressions than I do clicks.

—-

Q. Why Does It Seem I Am Seeing A LOT More Clicks Thrus Than When I Was With CJ.com?

A. Because you ARE getting more click-thrus. Thing is, search engine bots are causing these clicks. When search engines are crawling pages that your EPN links are on, they ‘click’ them. This is causing many to report much higher click-thrus than what they saw while with CJ.com. Why this happens with EPN, I’m not sure enough to try and explain. It just is… lol.

Q. How Can I Find Out What I Sold as an EPN Affiliate to Earn My Commissions?

A. I did a whole post on eBay stats tracking/deciphering yesterday. I also edited and added to that post tonight. I found two sites online that now offer tools to do this for you.

Even though the migration of eBay links has been extended until May 31st, I still went ahead and changed out all my Squidoo lenses that had the eBay RSS affiliate feeds with the new eBay Partner Network tracking. Now, let me be clear right up front, I don’t make a ‘killing’ off eBay affiliate sales, but I had gotten fairly used to daily sales activity when we were with Commission Junction.

I changed out these links to start May 1st. While I’ve seen steady impressions and clicks… I wasn’t seeing any sales. I was getting concerned. Today, I logged in to my EPN affiliate account and saw that finally, I’m making sales again. I also scooped an ACRU – which pleases me =)

How do You Figure Out WHAT You Sold as an eBay Affiliate on EPN?

While we were with cj, you could download a csv file and put it into one of those online tools to figure out exactly what you sold with your eBay affiliate links. The new ePN links, tho, don’t appear to work there anymore.

I wanted to know what I sold to make that commission, so I thought I’d play with the affiliate reports some and see if I could figure it out. Many of you may already know this, which would be par for the course in my world… I’m always last to know…lol.

So, if you know this, just ignore me. If you don’t … keep reading!

6 Steps to Figure Out eBay Affiliate Sales

Step 1. Log In to your ePN affiliate account.

Step 2. Click “reports”

Step 3. Click “Transaction Download”

Step 4. Select date range

Step 5. Click “Download Text File”

This will open in a .txt notepad file and will look like this:

As you can see, I had commissions from two winning bids, and an ACRU (new user bonus). On the left side going down, you see a date, under that is my account number (blurred out) and then under that is a long number (which I am pointing to with my fancy-dancy red arrows…lol).

Step 6. Highlight that auction ID, paste into eBay search tool, and click ’search’.

If you highlight and copy that number on my EPN transaction download – and then enter that exact number right into the ebay.com search bar, the auction my customer won is shown =)

In my example, for auction #370048371222, my customer bought two Aeron Office chairs at $579.00 each (hence the 1158.00 amount you see to the right of my transaction download). Nice!

While this is far from a high-tech and sophisticated way to find out what you’ve sold on eBay, it works… and it’s quick.

How Often Does eBay Report Sales to Affiliates?

This was my other question – how long does it take for sales and ACRUs to show in our affiliate area after an auction is won? From this eBay forum post, I learned that clicks and impressions are reported within 4 hours. Winning bids and ACRUs are reported and shown on the eBay affiliate’s dashboard by midnight of the following day.

So folks, we’re not ‘real time’ in our eBay/EPN affilate stats, but at least that is an answer, right?

Edit to Add (5-14-2008) – I just knew that sooner or later, someone would make a tool (or ten) that would make finding out what you sold thru your eBay links a bit easier. Sure enough, I found two new tools today.

MyEPNReport.com – (web-based) New tool. Simply download your sales report as shown above and then upload it to the MyEPNReport.com tool. It will then show you what you sold and how much the auction was won for. I’ve tried it and it appears to be accurate.

TropicalWebWorks.com – This is an EPN report tracker script/program that you host on your own server. I haven’t even tested it yet, so I don’t have feedback on it at this moment. I’m interested to try this one out.

When eBay announced that they were leaving Commission Junction in order to run their own in-house affiliate program, we eBay affiliates started to panic. What would this mean to those of us that have hundreds, maybe thousands of eBay affiliate links and RSS feeds out there on the internet? Would we have to change each link out when we migrated to the new eBay Partner Network?

The answer to changing out our eBay affiliate links was short – and painful…

Yes, we had to change each link out to match the linking structure for the new eBay affiliate program. The new eBay Partner Network was opened on April 1, 2008 and current CJ affiliates were told to have all links migrated to the new structure by April 30th because commissions earned thru our CJ links would no longer be credited.

It is Now April 30th – Who Else is Freaking Out?

I have spent all day finishing up the tedious process of changing out my eBay links and RSS feeds on many, many Squidoo lenses and my own websites. I’m so tired of editing code that I could just about scream! But hey, it was a great way to MAKE me freshen every, single lens I have (I went thru each one today…ugh.).

I also have some niche blogs that have RSS affiliate links embedded in them which I am updating now. The last project was to update all my niche stores (LOVE me some niche stores!). All I had to do was find my Clickbank receipt and copy/paste it to get my download ‘patch’ for the new eBay links. I saved this project for last cause it was sure to be the easiest one.

Yeah, right. Seems I have lost my Clickbank receipt and have had to open a support ticket. Their support desk is slammed right now with all the other folks that also ‘apparently lost their Clickbank receipt’.

What Now? I guess I panic! haha!

Attention eBay Affiliates Who Are Migrating Their Links to the EPN Program

Somehow I missed a very important announcement from eBay Partner Network. Seems they have extended the deadline for link migration until May 31, 2008.

THANK YOU, eBAY PARTNER NETWORK!

According to eBay, there are still some ’special circumstances’ surrounding the migration issue.

“Because we know there are some special circumstances that may require this, we have arranged to extend the migration deadline until May 31st.”

Note: This will apply to Half.com and all eBay countries migrating EXCEPT Belgium, Netherlands, Hong Kong, and Singapore, which will still expire on April 30th

I’m sure I am one of the first “April Fools” who are already signed up for the new eBay affiliate program. Just a little bit ago, the new eBay Partner Program opened it’s doors for affiliate registration. I’m already registered and confirmed…and have had just a few minutes to poke around the new affiliate platform

Registering with the new program was easy enough. Go here to sign up for the new eBay affiliate program, fill out all the requested info, submit, then check your email. Once your confirmation email comes through, click the link in the email and be sure to verify your account. That link will also take you straight to the log-in page so go ahead and log in.

First things first, make sure you can get paid! Fill out the required W-9 information and then choose your payment method. I had the choice of direct deposit or PayPal.

So, What About All My Old eBay Affiliate Links?

That is the BIG question on everyones mind. Sorry to break it to you, but they will all need to be switched out. I don’t see an easier way other than to re-do them all from within your new affiliate account admin area. Information from eBay about migrating your existing affiliate links to the new ones can be found here.

Creating New eBay Affiliate Links

Seems that the new affiliate toolbox will be pretty good. The basic banner and creatives links are available, but it seems the RSS feed and widget generators are ‘coming soon’.

One very cool thing I noticed is that when you sign up for the Partner Program, you are signing up for ALL of their affiliate programs. From your affiliate admin area, when you are creating links you have the option of something called “geo-targeting”. What this means if you choose this when creating your links, that the link will recognize where a viewers ip address is from and give them the appropriate eBay store links. For example, if a reader from France views a link on my blog, the smart banner will show them, and take them, to the French eBay affiliate store.

Very cool.

The reports area in the affiliate admin area seems ok though I am not sure if they are tracking clicks yet or not. I installed one quick banner link and clicked it a few times, but the clicks are still not showing on my stats (30 minutes later). So, either a) they aren’t tracking yet, or b) they won’t track clicks from MY ip address, or c) the tracking is time delayed. Of course, I may have created the banner incorrectly, too! haha!

My over-all first impression is positive….even though it is 3 am for me. I have to say that I am NOT nuts about having to replace ALL the eBay links I have online, but at least I have a month to get it done.

You better get started, too!

With the recent news of the eBay affiliate program leaving Commission Junction in order to run their own in-house affiliate program, many eBay affiliates are waiting (not so) patiently to find out what will happen to their current affiliate links out there on the web. We’re talking a LOT of links being that eBay claims to have 100,000 affiliates!

I am just one of those affiliates. Let’s see what I can share with the other 99,999 eBay affiliates.

Will I Have to Change Out All My eBay Affiliate Links?

I have many various eBay affiliate links out there … many. Will this new change in affiliate program mean I will have to go change each and every eBay link and RSS feed and banner that I have out there? Just on Squidoo alone, I have a ton of links and eBay affiliate feeds that were generated with my Commission Junction publisher ID…and then we have all my other sites…my clients sites…ugh.

The prospect of needing to do that makes me a bit uhhhhhhhh….. unhappy. WILL I do it? Yes, I will – IF that is what is necessary.

A big hat tip to Shawn Collins for his post today regarding these changes. Thank you, Shawn, for also including Squidoo in your post so that it got dropped in my alert box =)

Shawn, along with Jim Kukral, Sam Harrelson, and Lisa Picarille did a podcast over at GeekCast.fm. In this podcast, they interviewed Will Martin-Gill from eBay regarding all these changes with the eBay affiliate program move.

Some things they talked about were:

why the move to an in-house program,

was ShoeMoney the catalyst for this move,

and about affiliate link migration (ie, changing out links).

Also, our beloved Squidoo came into conversation….which entertained me to no end =)

Take a trip over to GeekCast.fm and have a listen. These guys (and gal) are fun and informative.

In the meantime, I have another great guest post coming your way. Stay tuned!

Big news from eBay today. For those of you that are affiliates for eBay through Commission Junction, listen up! eBay will be offering their own in-house affiliate program effective April 1, 2008 and no longer will be using Commission Junction as their affiliate management program.

eBay Affiliate Program Changes Announced

In an eBay blog post today, the eBay team announced their new global affiliate program called the eBay Partner Network. From todays post:

“The new platform will go live on April 1st, 2008 PST, at which point eBay will no longer be running its affiliate program through Commission Junction. Beginning April 1st, affiliates should register with eBay Partner Network and migrate their links from CJ to the new platform.”

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have a good bit of eBay affiliate codes out there on the internet. My initial reaction was, “Oh Dear!” =)

So what about our current eBay affiliate tracking codes that we already have running with our Commission Junction tracking id?

From the same post:

“The eBay Partner Network and Commission Junction will run in parallel for one month through this process, so please plan to complete your migration by May 1st, 2008.

You can receive an additional 5% bonus for all traffic tracked through eBay Partner Network in April 2008 for specific countries (bonus applicable to traffic sent to Half.com and US, UK, Australia, Canada, Italy, India and Spain eBay sites). The sooner you migrate, the more you’ll earn! Just:

Register with eBay Partner Network on April 1, 2008

Confirm your registration, and obtain your new identifiers

Update your links with your new identifiers

Reminder: Please plan to complete migration by May 1, 2008″

The bonus incentive for making the switch early is nice, but does anyone else foresee an HUGE overload to the eBay servers come the first of April?

Which eBay Programs Are NOT Affected by this Change?

Programs that will NOT be affected and will continue their relationship with Commission Junction:

eBay’s Tradera AB

ProStores

Reseller Marketplace

Media Marketplace

eBay Stores

StubHub

My Two Cents on the eBay Affiliate Program Changes

All in all, and after the aggravation of replacing all my current affiliate tracking thru Commission Junction, I think this will be a change for the better. eBay is plenty big enough, and strong enough, to be running their own in-house affiliate program. Cutting out the “middle man” should be a change for the better. Sure, things might be chaotic at first, but I intend to make this change with them.
