This is great. As I’ve been learning and reading more about getting traffic to my site I’ve realized that most people seem to overcomplicate it. There is a lot of different types of links and ways to get them, but I think your advice is great. Keep it simple and just do it. 🙂

One thing that you didn’t talk about in this post are the unhelpful (sometimes hurtful) ways in which over enthusiastic back-linking can actually hurt your site (google blacklisting). I’ve never in fact experienced this, but I’ve read plenty of horror stories of this happening to others.

In your experience is this fear justified? Or is it an over-exaggeration of the short-term effects of some backlinking strategies?

Hey Jennifer,

I was just wondering if you have a certain link strategy percentage in mind as you lay out your linking plan.

For example, do you strive to have 30% from Article directories, 20% from articles from other blogs, 5% paid links, etc.?

Lastly, is there a tool that you use to keep up with all of your links?
