This way means I get cash!
Also, having just had my first payday (details on my blog) I can say that my earnings from cafepress far outstripped my royalty payment for my lens, even though I made the top tier and received $4 for this one!

If someone wouldn’t make 7 or more sales a month to qualify for the 6% commission bracket from Amazon, it would be personal preference as to which ID was used on a lens.

I’m sure that squidoo qualifies for the top rate of 8% on affiliate payouts from Amazon, meaning that after the 5% off the top brings it down to 7.6% of the sale that squidoo splits into equal 3.8% shares.

So unless you have a higher amazon personal payout (the 6% or 8% tier) than it is really just personal preference on using your own ID or not.
