Let me tell you a secret…
I used to throw my sourdough discard away! Yep! I discarded the discard – gasp!
It felt wasteful, but every time I fed my starter, I had this gloopy, fermenty, slightly tangy mess staring at me, and I had absolutely no clue what to do with it.
Then, one day, I made the mistake of complaining about it to my “oh-so-perfect-at-everything” friend.
She’s the kind of person who can turn fridge scraps into a five-star meal. Got a friend like that too? (grin)
She just laughed and said, “Well, honey, that’s free yummy stuff you’re throwing out.”
Then she shared this recipe for sourdough discard coffee cake (it’s SO YUM!!!!!!)

- 1 cup sourdough starter
