Under The Radar - by PotPieGirl

Day 4

Resources

Welcome back to my series called Under The Radar.  We've been talking about making money online in an "under the radar" way.

If you missed the first days of this series, you can read them here:

Under The Radar Day 1

Under The Radar Day 2

Under The Radar Day 3

Ok... let's get right back to it.

In previous days, we talked about snowballs and assets and how they all fit in to building wealth online.

Today we are going to talk about resources.

Internet Marketing is a resources game - pure and simple.

People ask me all the time, "How many of your niche sites make money?"

or...

"How many of your niche sites fail?"

Here's the thing - the reality of this business...

Whenever you have a site online that Google indexes and gives Page Rank to, you have NOT failed.

If you have a site that Google will index quickly and regularly, and that develops Page Rank over time...you have a resource.

The more resources you have that YOU OWN, the better off you will be.

Those of you that follow One Week Marketing... let's think for a minute.

One of the best back links you can get (and the best way to get indexed) is a link within the content of a web page that is on a domain that Google trusts (ie, they crawl regularly and quickly...and that site gets awarded Page Rank over time).

Think of those free blogs of mine that I opened up for y'all to use for free to be able to get your campaign web pages indexed AND provide a good back link for them.

Where do you think those sites of mine came from?

Do you think I just made them real quick when I was about to release One Week Marketing?

No.

I had been running and tending to those sites for a year before One Week Marketing ever came into public existence.

Know why?

I created those sites for ME.

So *I* could get my web pages indexed when *I* wanted.

So *I* would not have to rely on sites I do NOT have any control over...

So *I* could play by MY rules...NOT the ever-changing rules of other sites and services.

I created those sites (and many others) so I had my own network of resources to use at my disposal however I wanted to use them.

When your entire online business model relies on the whims and rules of sites you do NOT own, you could have a problem.

So to change up what my Grandmother always said...

"When you want it done YOUR WAY and by YOUR RULES... Do it yourself!"

I opened those sites up to my One Week Marketers because I KNOW first-hand that when you are trying to make it snow, you need a little help getting going.

I thought that one of the coolest things I could do for others who are just starting out is to open up some of MY resources to them  =)

In time, each of you will be creating your own resources so you can play this internet marketing game on YOUR terms.

That should be a goal for each of you.

You should be doing no less than at LEAST starting a free Blogger blog and posting to it each day or so to train Google to come to that blog when you post.

That way, when the day comes that you NEED Google to come find a link and index you, they will.

I don't care if all you post about each day is what you had for breakfast.  The point of this blog is not to get traffic or to sell stuff....the point is for that blog to be a resource for you that you have when YOU need it.

Resources.

Know what other things classify as resources for me?

Squidoo lenses.

Yup, those little buggers are so awesome!

Not just to get you started making snow, but to also help create the snowball effect for your niche sites.

Think about it.... you're trying to make it snow and have this group of lenses on a certain topic.  Those lenses start to make sales.  Not only that, but they rank well in Google and develop great Page Rank.

So, time comes when you're ready to make snowballs.  What should you make your site about?

How about what that good Squidoo campaign is about?!?!?

Seriously, it's all there already!

You already have high-ranking pages that can bring your new site traffic.

You already have good Page Rank on your lenses to give you the high-quality back links your new site must have.

Holy cow, step #19 and #20 are already done FOR you!!!

(as a refresher, step #19 to building a niche site is to build back links.  Step #20 is to generate traffic.)

Now, granted, Squidoo lenses and Hubpages or any other page on a free site that you can edit on the fly is not a true asset because you don't own it.

But good golly, Miss Molly, they sure are fantastic resources to have!

I have created new niche sites around topics my One Week Marketing campaigns are on and all but instantly had traffic as soon as I linked my lenses to my new site.

THAT is AWESOME!  It's cool beans with a cherry on top!

When building your empire online, don't always focus on money directly.

Think assets.

Think resources.

Think - How Can I Get This Snowball Off And Running The Quickest?

Build and leverage...and make the best use of your time.

Which... brings me to shortcuts.

Yesterday I talked about one of my favorite shortcuts for keyword research.  You can learn all about that tool at my new website:

Niche-Keywords.org

But there are many more shortcuts you can take than just having a really, really good keyword tool (tho having a really good keyword tool can save a BUNCH of time).

Tomorrow we talk about shortcuts  =)
