Slow cooking is my FAVORITE cooking method – heck, it doesn’t even FEEL like cooking… it feels like dumping lol!
My latest painful time-suck is scrolling through tons of crockpot video recipes. I just love food bloggers and recipe creators – so talented!
But every now and then I’ll see a TikTok-style video recipe and look at the ingredients they’re dumping into their crock and think – what the WHAT!?!?
Instead of watching those videos and passing by, I decided to save them here to share with you.
I WAS gonna title this post “Weird Sh*t People Dump In Their Crockpot”, but – while that title amuses ME, it may not be funny to everyone haha!

Also, after watching these short TikTok-style video recipes, the weird ingredients don’t seem so weird anymore. They’re actually, dare I say – kinda genius!
Go ahead and click play and watch each short recipe video from some very creative creators – and then you tell me: Are those ingredients REALLY weird? Or are they weird because we’ve yet to try them?
Ok, I’ll admit – I’ve put frozen meatball in my crockpot to make them as appetizers, but as a MEAL? Nope – but I will be now after seeing how easy it is to make these meatballs and gravy… yum!
Frozen Hamburger Patties
Never EVER crossed my mind to toss FROZEN hamburger patties IN my crockpot – but turns out, they sure make an amazing Salisbury Steak dinner!
UNcooked Manicotti Noodles
I’ve been hesitant about putting UNcooked pasta in my crockpot (turns out I’ve been doing it wrong – you need to add extra liquid), but this is a cool way to make “lasagna” without boiling the noodles.
Raw Cubed Steak
I’m a good ‘ol Southern girl so we bread and FRY our cubed steaks – never even considered dumping raw cubed steaks in my crockpot – but it sure is a nice shortcut to remember!
Applesauce
First off, cooking desserts in my slow cooker is something I’ve never tried, but who knew you could dump applesauce in your crockpot and make an Applesauce Cake?!!
Beer
I DEFINITELY never ever thought of pouring beer in ANY crockpot dish, but I gotta tell ya, these “Drunk Potatoes” look pretty good (just wish she washed the potatoes first haha!)

You know that little bag of frozen dough balls you bake to make dinner rolls? Yeah, turns out you can dump them in your crockpot and make CINNAMON ROLLS! Yum!
UNcooked Ground Beef
Maybe I’m weird, but I’ve never put RAW ground beef into any crockpot recipe – I always cook it first.
But turns out, you can just dump that pound of raw hamburger meat into your slow cooker and make an amazing Lasagna Soup.
Cheese Puffs
This one kinda caught me off guard – shes dumping a BIG ol’ thing of cheese puffs (cheese balls) into her crockpot to make… Macaroni and Cheese!
Peanuts
This is a fun and easy crockpot candy recipe that we gotta try!
Peanut Butter
Who knew you could dump pretzels, peanut butter and a few other ingredients to make another type of crockpot candy – looks good!
Aluminum Foil
I’ve shared this crockpot dinner recipe before on my 27 Quick Prep Dinners ANYONE Can Make post, but I still think it’s a GENIUS way of making a full dinner (with baked potatoes) in your crockpot!
Frozen Tater Tots
Never quite considered this tho I’ve seen other crockpot recipes using frozen tater tots, but these Taco Tots look yummy!

Never have I EVER even remotely thought of putting Dortios chips in my crockpot – but sure have now!

I don’t know why the thought of dumping frozen shrimp in my crockpot seems weird to me, but after watching this yummy Shrimp Scampi recipe, my mind has been changed.
Frozen Ground Beef
I’m still not sure about dumping frozen ground beef in my slow cooker, but this loaded crockpot ravioli DOES look good.
Root Beer
Soda – in a crockpot recipe? You bet! Dump a can of Root Beer in with 2 other ingredients and you’ll making AMAZING BBQ Chicken!
