So this morning I am making a new lens for my 6StepNicheSites.com that is focused on teaching others about creating a niche website. I managed to get it published the first time (in very rough form), but after I went back in to dress the lens up and make it look pretty, I got the ol’ Uh-Oh message from Squidoo saying my lens tripped the spam filter. Wonderful.
Naturally, this lens is NOT promoting any Squidoo No-No’s, so I went back in the lens and scanned it, and re-scanned, and then re-re-scanned it for anything that might possibly mean something else.
Still locked.
Squidoo is GOOD at blocking spam and I know that spam filter is there for a reason (and it is a reason that benefits ALL of us that work on Squidoo), but for the life of me, I can’t figure out what is causing this humble little lens to get a slap on the wrist.
I put in for a hand review from the Squidoo staff. Last time I had a lens locked, I was scared to death. If, for some reason, whoever does the hand review deems I AM promoting a no-no , my whole account could get deleted. ACK!
I have no doubt this will get cleared up, but in the meantime, my new lens is ‘on hold’ for three days…sigh. Bright side is that I will learn, and pass on, another thing that ‘trips’ the Squidoo spam filters – and NOT do it again! 🙂
This is the new lens: Creating a Niche Website For Beginners
What you see is the really rough beginning of it. I like to publish my lenses after I get a basic outline and some content on it to take a peak and see how it’s looking. Am I the only one that does that?
Once this issue is straightened out, I’ll fill y’all in with the details.

I do that too: publishing a lens just to see what it looks like, when it’s not worth much yet 🙂
Katinka Hesselink – spiritualitys last blog post..On second thought: don’t submit to my lens – I deleted it…
Good luck with the hand review. And don’t count on it being three days!! I’ve had a lens locked since the middle of May waiting for a hand review – one that had already been published for a while, had star ratings and everything. Sigh.

All that is necessary for a lens to get locked is to have a ‘root’ of a word that the filters look for, and some very good lenses have been locked for that reason.
Just be sure that when you talk to the person who has looked at and unlocked your lens that they tell you which word caused the problem!

Broken Trust.
Squidoo said I could post anything I wanted and then after a lot of my work they went in and changed the rules. Their right, their online property. I will never post on Squidoo again.
