Moving Or Selling Squidoo Lenses -
I get this question a lot from my readers and from my One Week Marketing Action Plan followers – “How do you transfer a lens from one Squidoo account to another?” Today, I made a quick video showing you exactly how to transfer a Squidoo lens.
How To Move a Squidoo Lens To a Different Squidoo Account
Not only will this post be short, but the video is a quickie lesson, too! See, I AM capable of brevity! haha!
Many of you are either creating new Squidoo accounts or are selling Squidoo lenses and need to know how to move a lens from one account to another. Transferring a lens from one Squidoo account is easy-peasy.
I think the only “rule” about transferring a lens is that the Squidoo account that the lens is coming from must have at least 2-3 lenses on it before you can move one of them to another account. Other than that, it is:

type
send
confirm
Yes – it’s that easy.

I am pretty sure that a video like that will benefit those looking for letting a lens chance hands. I don’t understand that people would want to sell their cash producing assets but that’s another story

December 31st, 2008 at 3:09 amHi,
Is there a way I can change the URL of a lens? Somehow I think Google isn’t indexing my lens because the URL doesn’t exactly reflect the content of the lens. I do have lot of relevant tags but somehow the URL was a bad choice.
If changing the URL is not possible, I’m willing to recreate the lens with a new URL. But, it’s a big lens and I don’t want to manually copy and paste all the content into the new lens. I know there’s an ‘export’ lens feature, but is there an ‘import’ feature as well? I stumbled upon this page looking for ‘import squidoo lens’ on Google. But, this page is about lens transfer and not import in the sense I was looking for.
I’ll really appreciate your help on this.
Thanks.

Nope, you can not change the url of a lens. The url is permanent. As for the export/import options…uh, I honestly don’t know how that works. I’ve never done it.
I don’t think your url has anything to do with whether Google indexes it or not. Just look at some WordPress blogs, their urls are like /page-2 type things…and Google indexes them just fine.
To get Google to find and index your lens, you need to go to work OFF your lens and get some links out on the web that link TO your lens. Google will follow the links.
All the best =)

Hi Jennifer,
Thanks so much for your response. I’ll take your advice and drop of the idea of creating a new lens with a better-matched URL.
My experience with Google indexing has been very strange.
Four days ago, I created another lens. The page was indexed by Google within 8 hours or so and I got like 30+ hits within the first day without taking a single step to promote it. Infact it was on the first page of google search results for many different queries. Also note that I wasn’t logged into my Google account when I did those searches.
However, I got a bit greedy and did some lens rolls, digging and mixxing, and other stuff as you had suggested on one of your other pages. I also put some links on my blog and few other pages. And now, I cannot find that lens with Google search at all. Even if I put the entire title of my page in double quotes.
Do you have any idea what could be wrong?
Thanks again.

April 8th, 2009 at 2:57 amSorry, I forgot to mention that when I search for my new lens now, I can see the pages where I pasted a link to my new lens in the search results, I can also see the diggs and mixxes, but I can’t find the actual lens in the Google Search results.

Sounds like the normal … Google loves to dance around new web pages. Gives ‘em an instant boost… then, POOF, they’re gone…back and forth. It will settle in due time. For more info on this craziness, search here at PotPieGirl.com. I have quite a few posts on this topic.

Hey Jennifer,
I can’t see any transfer a lens link on the left side of my squidoo dashboard. what I can see is “Learn how to add Squidoo This! to your browser”. May I know how can I find the “transfer a lens” link?
Regards
